Sales Navigator's AI features in 2026, Account IQ, Lead IQ and Message Assist explained

Short answer: Sales Navigator now has three AI features on all of its plans (Core, Advanced and Advanced Plus): Account IQ summarises a company, Lead IQ summarises a person, and Message Assist drafts a first InMail from what those summaries found. They save research time. They don't decide who is worth contacting, and a draft that every seller gets from the same summaries will read like everyone else's unless you change it.
Everything about Sales Navigator below comes from LinkedIn's own Sales Navigator and "AI for sales" pages, checked on 2026-10-09. Feature lists and plan rules change, so check there before you buy.
What LinkedIn says each feature does
| Feature | What it does | Plans |
|---|---|---|
| Account IQ | AI summary of a company: its priorities and how your solution lines up with them, to prepare account plans faster | Core, Advanced, Advanced Plus |
| Lead IQ | AI summary of a person, to cut research time before a meeting or a first message | Core, Advanced, Advanced Plus |
| Message Assist | Drafts a tailored first-touch InMail from account activity, lead data and company updates, and can rework tone and structure; LinkedIn labels it a public beta | Core, Advanced, Advanced Plus |
| Lead IQ in your CRM | Lead IQ summaries inside Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Oracle Sales | Advanced Plus |
| Sales Navigator for Microsoft Teams | Alerts in Teams when a saved account adds a decision-maker or a saved lead changes role or company | Advanced Plus |
LinkedIn also lists smaller recent updates: a "Who viewed my Company Page" view, leads across companies in the Relationship Map, and saving a profile as a lead while you browse LinkedIn itself. Search still runs on 50+ filters across more than a billion members.
One inconsistency worth knowing: parts of the same page still say Account IQ is "available only on Advanced and Advanced Plus plans in select languages", while the FAQ says all three AI features are now on every plan. If you depend on it, check in your own account, and in the language you sell in.
Where these features genuinely help
- Research before a call. A one-paragraph summary of a company's priorities is faster than reading its last three press releases. For account-based selling, Account IQ is the feature with the clearest payoff.
- A first draft when you're stuck. Message Assist gives you something to edit instead of a blank box, which helps sellers who send few messages and dread writing them.
- Keeping up with changes. Role-change alerts (in Sales Navigator, and in Teams on Advanced Plus) are a real reason to get in touch, and a better one than "just following up".
Where they don't help
They don't choose who to contact. The summaries describe a person or company you already picked. Most bad outreach is bad because it goes to the wrong people, not because the wording is off. Deciding who fits, and dropping the rest, still comes first. We wrote about why in lead fit matters more than message copy.
Everyone gets the same draft. If ten sellers in your market use the same tool on the same prospect, the drafts are built from the same summary. The prospect's inbox fills with messages that open on the same "I noticed your company is focused on…". Treat the draft as research, not as the message.
InMail isn't the only channel. Message Assist drafts InMail, which uses your plan's monthly InMail credits. Connection requests and messages to existing connections don't use credits. For most outreach, a short, specific connection request goes further. See whether to add a note to a connection request.
How to use AI drafts without sounding generic
- Keep one detail that only fits this person: a post they wrote, a change at their company, a hire they made. Cut the rest of the summary.
- Don't pitch in the first message. Ask about something they care about. The reasoning and examples are in don't pitch in your first LinkedIn message.
- Make it shorter than the draft. AI drafts run long. Two or three sentences get read on a phone.
- Read it as the recipient would. If you could send the same message to their competitor by changing the name, rewrite it.
- Measure replies, not sends. Track your real reply rate per message version and keep what works.
Where NudgeLink fits
We make NudgeLink, so take this with that in mind. It works from the other end: it scores every lead from 0 to 100 against your ideal customer before anyone is contacted, then writes each message from that person's own profile and activity, in your voice, for you to approve. It sends connection requests and messages from your LinkedIn account rather than InMail, so it doesn't need Sales Navigator. You can use both: Sales Navigator to research key accounts, NudgeLink to find and write to the people who fit. See pricing and how lead scoring works.
